Don't let the dull name fool you: Internet Download Manager is a full-featured package that handles downloading tasks with aplomb. It conveniently integrates into your browser, even if you use Mozilla or Opera.
It automatically sorts incoming files by file type and puts them in the appropriate folder. Most importantly, it supercharges download speeds (it doubled ours). Its windowed interface is clean and easy to understand. Power users can take advantage of the command line interface to resume file transfers, schedule downloads, connect through dial-up, or log on to password-protected sites. Experienced users also can limit the number of connections, the download speeds for specific sites, and even create an exception list to block specific, user-defined sites.
Other features include automatic virus checking and the ability to download all files linked to a page. The new version has a Web spider that can analyze a site and retrieve, for example, all the images on it.
Internet Download Manager strikes us as a natural choice for users in need of a trusty transfer tool. Version 5.11 build 5 added FLV grabber that can be used to download videos from YouTube, Google Video, MySpaceTV, and other popular sites.

From Tonec :Internet Download Manager is a tool for increasing download speeds by up to 5 times, and for resuming, scheduling, and organizing downloads. The program will resume unfinished downloads due to lost connections, network problems, or unexpected power outages. It can connect to the Internet at a set time, download the files you want, and disconnect or shut down your computer when it's done. It supports FTP, HTTP, and SHTTP protocols, MP3 audio files, and MPEG video-content processing.
Version 4.07 build 3 improves the general security of Internet Download Manager, adds batch downloads and several enhancements to the logic of download engine, fixes buffer overflow bug when taking over downloads with long URLs, adds authorization dialog in case authorization information don't match, and improves processing of sites that demand different authorization information.

Pros: I liked the no-nonsense, easy to use interface that this program has without the extra junk most other top programs have which really serve no useful purpose. I tried Download Accelerator Plus, a good program but with extra junk like a game center and built in media player (who needs an extra media player for cryin' out loud and if I want a game center, I'll download a game center) and I tried GetRight, a very high rated program but it did not provide faster download speeds and was a little bit of a pain to configure. This program was very easy to set up, it speeds up downloads considerably and has been very dependable. I went to the website to make the purchase and downloaded the 5.0 beta version which is what I'm currently using now. I highly recommend this program if you need better download speeds, resume capabilities and dependability.
Cons: None really but I would like to see automatic download mirror site locating ability.

Pros: Super extra ultimate mega blablabla fast its great i ve tried alot of download accelerators/managers and this is the best u ll ever find,I ve tried: DAP IDA RAPIDOWN(spyware dont get it)MASS DOWNLOADER ,basically all of the 1s u ll find on download.com...this is the best
Cons: errm...none i can think of...oh for all u ppl that like to crack progys...this will giv u somethin to chew it...its possible but don t waste ur time trying serials...it detects fake serials and then doesn t let u use the free trial.crack is the way to go for this 1.

Pros: I never had a download manger with this kind of speed. This is real fast. This rocks! This is the one the others need to beat. have tried over 15 download managers, but this one is the only one that works well.

Pros: massive speed increase, fast loading, good integration. However for slow connections, the speed "appears" to be faster, eg. 5 kb/s then 1kb/s for the next few seconds, and back to 3.
Cons: not really much a download "manager", but its speed is excellent. If you want something to manage downloads, numerical download sequence, server synchroniser, go with getright. I wouldnt recommend this for slow internet connections. Green tray neon sign is also ugly.

Pros: It speeds up your downloads considerably. A 3 hour download took 30 mins with this program.
Cons: I can't seem to uninstall it. What's up with that? I go to
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Change/Remove > Uninstall and then nothing.. It just stays there.
