Internet Download Manager is a tool for increasing download speeds and for resuming, scheduling, and organizing downloads. It supports FTP, HTTP, and SHTTP protocols, MP3 audio files, and MPEG video-content processing.
Version 4.03 build 5 revises the Download with IDM feature for Internet Explorer, features improved download-link-capturing logic, adds download-link capturing from antileech plug-ins, and adds protection from faulty registry cleaners.

the program makes the inernet browsing slow to a crawl.and it also increases the download tme of the file.i could download the file in 3 hours without it and it says 6 hours remaining even ater finishing it 17%

Really an outstanding software, works well with both Internet Explorer and Firefox. believe you me it really increases the download speed atleast 3 to 5 times, by downloading the same thing from 8 locations (by default, can be adjusted). Contains no adware (DAP Contains an adware - nothing personal with DAP) and no spyware. It doesn't start when the system boots up hence, nothing to worry about your boot up time. Currently I am using trial ware, but I'll register it soon, however, trial version works almost 95% (only a minor feature disabled). In short, this one is great.
Cons
Interface though is user friendly but not very decent colors and icons.

I really enjoy this great program. It works and the ability to retrieve cancelled downloads is probably the most useful feature of all. It cut my download time in half. Thank you CNET!

This is great software for downloading.
Hate having to start your downloads from the beginning because of connection failure or a power outage, or just because someone in the house had to use the phone, well look no further this is the only software you'll ever need. With this user-friendly software there is no need struggle in 3 clicks your download is connected, it even includes a timer so that you can leave your download on all night and it will log you off from you ISP automatically.

Well, I tried this program and must say it's very helpful. I downloaded tons of mp3, mpg, avi, movies, and etc. files daily and often from very slow sites. I had been using dap for more then two years until I found this program. IDM downloaded the same file almost 2 times faster! It's incredible! And it's rock stable under my Windows XP. I'm thinking about buying it after the trial period. I recommend this product to everyone who is looking for fast and stable download manager.

recently upgraded to a cable modem from dial-up. I had lost IDM some time before and decided to download it again. My girlfriend didn't see the point if we had the new faster connection, but after seeing the improvement of speed, she uses it all the time now. It even speeds up cable modem downloads!!!
