One of the first forays of real-time strategy into a truly 3D world, Homeworld is an undisputed classic. The game's graphics aren't quite as polished as more recent 3D titles, but it's still easy to get lost in the seemingly endless world. The demo version comes with a generous amount of functionality, which is good considering the sizable install files. There's also a massive list of navigational and tactical controls to master, but the included tutorial files help. The varied tasks of the two included missions help keep the gameplay fresh. If you have the patience to learn the basics, the game's fascinating back story and dreamy soundtrack can easily whittle away the hours.Publisher's description
From Vivendi Universal Games :Homeworld combines elements of space combat, strategic play, and action in a new gaming experience. This demo includes the first two missions from the full version and a step-by-step tutorial. In the first mission, command the massive mothership and begin construction of your fleet. In the second, learn to engage enemy craft in deep space on the 3D battlefield. Each victory brings you closer to Hiigra, your homeworld. The demo also features Skirmish mode, which allows you to practice your multiplayer skills against up to seven computer opponents.

"Original, fascinating, and addicting fun!"
Pros: The 3D battlefield is definitely enticing to hard-core RTS fans, and the gameplay is unique as well. Very fun and very addicting! Deninitely a classic, and perhaps one of the best RTS games made. I highly recommend at least trying the demo.
Cons: Graphics are poor, but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
The AI is is also rather poor, but that can be made up for in MP.

Version: Homeworld 1.0
Summary: The game seems very difficult to play and doesn't respond well to commands (difficult to control). Maybe I should study the instructions more but I get plenty of that in my job. I only paid $10 for the game but it wasn't worth it. I should have trie... read more >>
