Most of us are familiar with peer-to-peer file-sharing programs like Limewire, which allow users to connect directly with other people on the network to share music, movies, and other types of media. This type of file sharing can be fun and useful, but it also has its drawbacks; you never know if you're downloading what you actually think you are, and sometimes what you end up with is downright malicious. GigaTribe takes the concept of P2P file sharing and makes it more intimate; this ingenious program allows you to set up a private P2P network with your friends.
If you pressed us to come up with something about GigaTribe that we didn't like, we're not sure that we could. The program's interface is wonderful, both attractive and intuitive. In no time at all both we and a friend had installed it, created a network, and started sharing files. GigaTribe is more than just a file-sharing application, however; users can also create profiles, post blog entries, and chat with one another, all from within the interface. We especially liked the Transfers tab, which allows users to see at a glance exactly what they've uploaded or downloaded and to whom each file has been shared with. We do wish that the program had a comprehensive Help file: there's an online FAQ, but it's not very detailed. Overall, we think GigaTribe is a great program, and that it could be useful for both groups of friends who want to share files for fun as well as coworkers who need an efficient way to transfer documents.
GigaTribe is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We highly recommend this program to all users.

"Once great, now unreliable!"

Gigatribe is on to version 3.07.001 and has been going on 3 years now and that is the start of its "Cons". Last stable build was 2.52. Like many other great programs giga went social adding many new features even vpn servers. Sounds good although there staff took a simple fast program and destroyed it. 3.01.007 current and only supported version now is over 3 years old but this was by far not there last build. Since then they made several beta builds 3.2 3.3 ect.. all that failed and were cut. 3.07.001 has several bugs in its self it is nothing more then a beta build there staff has never been able to fix the bugs which include contacts showing as offline when in fact they are online making file trade not possible. Program fails and locks up when adding and removing contacts. Slower transfer speeds. the list go's on. there programs are unable to fix any of these issue for 3 yrs now. And now they have been attempting to up grade there servers and made them very unstable now.
Summary
Gigatribe was great then they went to a more social program adding eye candy more chat features ect.. For 3 years now they have failed at every turn to fix any bugs and only have put out new builds that were so unstable they got cut with in weeks. They sold lifetime memberships that were to cover all future upgrades then added new vpn servers and said the lifetime premium memberships do not cover that upgrade and if you wish to use the faster servers you must pay more per month to do so. They sale ultimate memberships for there ultimate easy connection servers yet the servers are always down like this week they been down for 7 days now yet they still collect money for the ultimate service, and refuse to extend memberships or refund money to the lack of promised service granted by there ultimate membership. They do not reply even to posts on there blog asking why they are taking money for a service such as ultimate yet not providing the service. These blogs on there site they moderate and refuse to post. Do your self a favor do not give them money. Use the free version only as I said the ultimate servers are joke.

NONE. It used to be a good program until version 2.52, but now it has become just a piece CRIPPLEWARE. Full of bugs.

CRIPPLEWARE DO NOT DOWNLOAD. DO NOT BUY IT.
Gigatribe forces people to buy its Ultimate license but even after paying for it, it won't work.
The last versions have lots of bugs and instead of fixing them, the owners invent new ways to force people to buy its product. The result is that the programs is totally useless now.Summary
They claim it's a freeware but they will route your transfers through their so called "test servers" for free users, which don't work. They will force you to buy ultimate to have this program working but even so they will keep routing your transfer through crippled servers.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. DON'T DOWNLOAD IT. -

- Ultimate version is too expensive, similar programs offer the same for free. It doesn't protect your security and anonymity, anyone can see your IP address, even if you don't accept their invitation.

- It forces you to add rules to your router in order to run the program. You have the option to use the Easyconnect option which means no rules to add but that means paying for that service.

Chat on Gigatribe is NOT encrypted even in 3.01.007 version. There's also a serious security leak when a gigatribe user logs on, his/hers password is sent to the gigatribe server in PLANE TEXT!!! Meaning even file exchange can be easily decrypted.
Summary
I respect the effort of the software developers but advertising the software as "Private, Secure, Unlimited File Sharing Software" is basically misleading if not even fraudulent - having in mind that the developers are aware of serious security holes. They are trying hard to fix the problem but this is going on for more than a year already. Users at least deserve to be warned in advance of an unencrypted chat and serious security hole at logging in.
Bottom line: not the software for privacy freaks nor for any kind of sensitive data exchange. -
