For users who download a great deal of content, there are always headaches in the process. No matter how fast your computer runs, downloading seems to slow down and complicate matters. GetGo Download Manager proved to be worthy of the task of taming the download process.
This freeware program will not be immediately noticed, as it comes as a command button on your Internet browser. But even then, this program doesn't come alive until users attempt to download music, movies, pictures, or other forms of media. A box will open asking if the user wants to use GetGo to download. From there, they are sent to a screen that shows what you are downloading, how large it is, where it comes from and how long it will take. At the bottom of the screen is a monitor of how much bandwidth this is taking. To the left is a navigation screen to look at all downloads past, present, and on hold. We appreciated the range of options for managing downloads, including picking the download folder, sorting videos into categories, and renaming files.
We were very impressed with the performance GetGo provided, as it lived up to its billing and downloaded media at a much quicker rate than expected. The program is organized in a very intuitive way and does a nice job of sorting out jobs. We highly recommend this program for any user who frequently downloads flash video files.

"I did not see the benefits of using this tool."
Pros: The interface was intuitive enough to start working right away.
Cons: I did not see anything that I needed this tool for since I already had other good solutions in place to address downloads. The icon in the middle of my screen was intrusive so I kept turning off the tool.
Summary: I may not have spent enough time exploring the tool's advanced features, but I probably would not use it for basic download management.

"Zaps a movie in a second and zero bytes"
Pros: I can't recommend this to no one - The Editor should take a look at it again.
WalterCons: it did not perform as CNET highly recommended.

"Software's Website Claims "Up to 500% Faster""
Pros: I gave this software a rating of 2 stars because its interface is easy to figure out; however, I followed all the steps in their online HELPs section. It's got a nice look to it, but pretty doesn't speed up my downloads. That's about it for the pros.
Cons: The main con I have about this software is that their website boasts up to 500% faster downloads. I'm downloading a rather large file (Tekzilla from Revision3) right this minute, and it hasn't gone over the speed I normally get with "Save target as".
Summary: I mainly downloaded this software because of the CNET editors' review. After giving it a whirl to see how much it can increase my download speeds, I'm going to uninstall once it finishes this present download. I would probably keep it, but with the ... read more >>
