GenDiskCleaner helps free up space on your hard drive. Disk Cleanup searches your drive based on your selection. It shows you cookies, history files, Internet cache files, Recent Files, Favorites, Common Documents, and temporary files you can safely delete. You can direct GenDiskCleaner to delete some or all of those files.

This bare-bones utility does its main job and costs nothing, but it's neither a full-fledged privacy suite nor a comprehensive disk cleaner. GenDiskCleaner's interface is the epitome of the word boring, but since it only does a couple of things, its check-box scheme is blissfully easy to comprehend. Basically, the program deletes Internet Explorer cookies and cached files and also can erase your Recent Documents history and empty the Recycle Bin. But unlike full-featured privacy-protection apps, this one doesn't support other browsers, wipe tracks from third-party apps, or shred documents. You'll find an additional tool for getting rid of space-hogging temp files, but the app lacks additional disk-optimization tools. It won't hurt greenhorns to try the free GenDiskCleaner, as long as they make sure to supplement it with a couple of more powerful applications.

  "About 2 GB freed!"

  Pros: This little program freed almost 2 GB of temp files. Yay! Better than me having to go through and search for these files.

  Cons: GenDiskCleaner seemed to freeze first time I tried deleting unnecessary files. I gave it another chance, and it performed well. :)

  "Simple and effective!"

  Pros: The tool is simple and effective. It does what it's supposed to do. It cleans your hard drive from unnecessary files.

  Cons: The program could do a little bit more automatic calculations i.e. how much hard drive space do i get back after deleting the files etc.

  "Great for getting rid of useless gigs"

  Pros: Easy to use

  Can free up gigs at a time (The first time I used it, I freed up 5 gigs! :) )

  FREE FREE FREE!

  Cons: Would like for it to scan more of your hard drive, to see if there's anything else I need to get rid of. I have some secret files hidden in my desktop somewhere, and I want them out.

  Pros: quick download in zip file, simplistic interface, but hey, who cares when it's freeware. Did a splendid job at the first attempt, and gave me 300 meg back, must recommend.

  "20 GB FREED !!!!"

  Pros: Very simple and small program.

  Very easy interface.

  I was going crazy seeing my hard-drive getting full and I couldn't know from what. Seriously I checked almost every single folder I have in my computer and I still couldn't see where or what files are taking all this space.

  Finally this program detected hidden "Recent Files" that are stored in the hard disk. I watch a lot of animations and movies on my computer, all of the episodes were backed-up without me knowing it. Thanks to this program I deleted them within a push of a button!

  Cons: none!
