Publisher's Description
From Unsanity:
FruitMenu is a haxie that gives you the ability to customize the Apple Menu and contextual menus. Using a visual editor you can edit the contents of the menus to suit your needs and taste. FruitMenu will also display the contents of the FruitMenu Items folder inside of your Library folder, launch applications and shell scripts from the Apple Menu and contextual menus, to allow easy file navigation and launching. You can also assign hotkeys to particular Apple menu items.
What's new in this version:
- Sped up the initial building of the Apple menu again so you don't get delays when you first try to access the menu.
- Fixed a bug with "Application menu as an icon" option causing two application menus to appear in some applications (Firefox, Adobe Photoshop CS2 and others) under Mac OS X 10.4.
- Updated the Application Enhancer icon used in the System Preferences submenu to display APE Modules.

"WATCH OUT! THIS UPDATE DOESN'T WORK!!!"
Version: FruitMenu 3.4.1
Pros
FruitMenu has worked well for me for over 2 years...until now...
Cons
As soon as I updated to 3.4.1, I was unable to apply my preferences in FruitMenu...just plain doesn't work at all anymore!

"Still problems."
Version: FruitMenu 3.4.1
Summary

I miss the classic Apple Menu. I like the features available on this, but wish the program had fewer problems. Contrary to what Unsanity says, I do notice the slowdown in launching applications. Also, the application menu icon feature is very buggy. My iMac G5 performance is just generally better and snappier without FruitMenu installed. Too bad I am having to go back to using the anemic Apple Dock. -
"Update did the trick"

The latest update works like a charm, also under Tiger 10.4.2. No delays and spinning beachballs, it is again possible to change the names in the Applemenu and to add hotkeys. It is a shame Apple dropped the Applemenu and that is has to be solved by shareware. But good shareware. -

I don't give the full set of stars easily, but WOW! Serious speed up from 3.40 to 3.41 on Tiger 10.41.
*FINALLY* all four of the main $7 dollar Haxies from Unsanity work together seamlessly and in harmony again. About bloody time!
Well done Unsanity!
Now just get the "Sort List By Label" feature working globally in Folders (as it used to in OS9) in Labels X as a Contextual menu and I'll give you 6 stars. -

For me, still not any faster at initially populating submenus. Nevertheless, a great product. -

Good fix for the most indispensible haxie of them all, especially for anyone that remembers OS9. Thanks for the general greatness! -
