Free YouTube Download is an easy-to-use program that allows users to download YouTube videos and save them in a variety of formats. Although we've seen similar programs with more features, this program is a good choice for users who need a basic YouTube downloader.
The program's interface is somewhat sparse, but it's still pretty intuitive. Users simply go to YouTube, copy the URL of the video they want to download, and then paste it into Free YouTube Download. Users select the output folder and name, and then choose from among AVI, MP4, and FLV file formats, each of which is available in two different quality levels. Click the Download button and the program saves the video to the specified destination. The program is quite quick and easy to use, and is appropriate for users of all levels. We do wish that Free YouTube Download had a Help file, as there are some features, such as the proxy server options, that may not be familiar to everyone. But for basic downloads it works fine. Our only other complaint is that we've seen similar programs that allow users to download videos from a variety of Flash video sites, such as Hulu and Dailymotion, in addition to YouTube. Some users may wish to seek out programs with more versatility, but if a YouTube downloader is all you need, Free YouTube Download is a good choice.

"My malware alarms went off! What is Oople?!"

I don't know. I was not about to install it on my computer when I saw what it wanted to do. See Cons below.
Cons
The installer wanted me to install the Oople (not a typo) toolbar and change my home page on my browsers to Oople Search. There was no other option; you either accept it or cancel.
When I pressed cancel, the installer sent me to
http://downloads.bonjoy.com/recommendations/index.html
which has been flagged as McAfee SiteAdvisor as a "Dangerous Site".
Needless to say, I will not be installing this to see what happens next. I have however reported it to CNET as possible malware.Summary

This program is so retarded it will not even install. It stops in the middle and notifies; there is a network problem, and offers a cancel button but that does nothing. I have to open task manager and end the "bestinstaller.exe" program!!! Ridiculous!

B) The single biggest issue is the tendency for completed video downloads to freeze upon playback.Summary
I haven't found a Youtube downloader that I like better for quality, but HD videos have a tendency to lock-up/freeze during playback. (This happens with both VLC and Windows Media Player, so the defect seems to be with the download). Generally, the problem is cured after re-downloading, but it might take several download attempts to secure perfect playback. I recommend checking the final seconds of the video after the download process is completed.
WARNING!! Do not WASTE your money with the optional "rocket subscription". My rocket won't leave the launching pad. The download speed is not a millisecond faster after installing my paid subscription code, and receiving visual confirmation of allegedly faster speed. I'll be requesting the "30 day guarantee" refund if I can locate the vendor email address. -

this product gets worse with every update. the latest version of yt>mp3 gets a "not available in your country" error. support says i have to install the full studio. this is an ongoing issue with dvdsoft in that they they are constantly trying to get you to accept more than what you want, or try to cleverly add extensions to your browser. i'm very careful with this but somehow they managed to add an extension to my chrome anyway

Here's how you avoid getting toolbars and new homepages - PAY ATTENTION! When you install this program, don't just mindlessly click next next next next, but watch for the page that offers you their toolbar and new homepage. Make sure you uncheck ALL 3 options (even if they're grayed out) when you get to that step, and decline any offer to install another program. When you get it installed, you won't regret it. This is the easiest YouTube downloader out there! It wipes the floor with all other programs. When I opened Firefox it asked if I wanted to install their plugin and I did, and there are no problems with it. Works flawlessly. Just pay attention and decline each toolbar and homepage window, which may get annoying after a while, but it's worth it.
