This download utility is surprisingly attractive and full-featured for a freeware product, and its operation couldn't be more straightforward. To download a file, just click a link in your browser or drag it onto the program's tiny, semitransparent window.
In our comparison tests, Free Download Manager beat out Opera's download manager 85Kbps to 53Kbps. Its automation features also are very good. Like other managers, it can automatically dial a modem, start a download, or shut down the PC. Unlike many of them, it also can change the number of connections depending on download speed, or disconnect and shut down the computer if a file is unavailable.
If you want to boost your download speed for free, this utility is certainly worth a try.

Version: Free Download Manager 2.5 build 712
Pros: This is the best among all download managers and trustworthy. It integrates with all browsers and does batch downloads with optimum speed, restricts malicious downloads asking user permission with advance notification. You can set it as you like. The new Vn.has bittorrent support,flash-video down-loader,up-loader, tool for conversion of video files.Select Flash Video Download>create flash download>type or copy the url>ok>it will download the file.;then select it & play in the FDM itself. I use this for all my downloads for over two years.

Version: Free Download Manager 2.5 build 712
Pros: The feature that I like the most about it is that it checks the program for malicious content before it starts downloading.
Cons: none.

Version: Free Download Manager 2.5 build 712
Pros: Works fine for batch downloading, as in right clicking a link which goes directly to a download, and if the same page has multiple links to, say, zip files, you can filter out anything but zips and download them all.
Cons: HTTP spider has a poor filtering option, you may not have a huge site as per total size (MB) but hundreds of different pages, and as it's trying to download it will severely slow down your system. Also, as you continue to add to your downloaded files list, etc. the program itself becomes unstable because it has to populate the list every time the program runs. It was just easier to uninstall/reinstall the program to make it stable again.
Also, the wildcard functions for downloading files from a specific sub-folder (ie. ww.whositwhatsit.com/subfolder/subfolder/*.zip) is poor as you can only specify wildcards to individual numbers or letters. Therefore, no telling it to download all ZIPs from a specific folder.
All in all, like I said, does the trick, but I don't advise using it for normal downloading.

Version: Free Download Manager 2.5 build 712
"A great full-featured download manager"
Pros: It supports everything from fast downloads, multiple mirrors and video conversion to BitTorrents, scheduled downloads and IE and Firefox integration. I reckon this is the best download manager out there. The second best is Orbit Downloader.
Cons: It doesn't have .metalink file support which I don't need much anyway.
