This download utility is surprisingly attractive and full-featured for a freeware product, and its operation couldn't be more straightforward. To download a file, just click a link in your browser or drag it onto the program's tiny, semitransparent window.
In our comparison tests, Free Download Manager beat out Opera's download manager 85Kbps to 53Kbps. Its automation features also are very good. Like other managers, it can automatically dial a modem, start a download, or shut down the PC. Unlike many of them, it also can change the number of connections depending on download speed, or disconnect and shut down the computer if a file is unavailable.
If you want to boost your download speed for free, this utility is certainly worth a try.

Version: Free Download Manager 1.8 build 307
"Probably the best free download manager I've used"
Pros: This is one of the best free download managers that I have ever used. It doesn't have the ads to bog you down, so it stays at a fairly constant speed. Plus it runs faster than any other free download manager out there I have tried, and for the past 2 yrs I've tried every single one on this site.
For me running a very slow dial up connection ( usually 28.8k because of old outdated phone lines.... I can't even get DSL because of how old they are.) this program is a life saver.
Cons: The only real problem I've noticed with this is that file names with spaces can get messed up by it. I just recently started using version 1.9 build 334 of this program ( go to their website for that version because it's not on this site.)and so far it seems as if that version has cured this problem from what I have noticed anyways.
When you download this and start using it make sure and read all the options and help pages before complaining if it does not work right for you. I had a bunch of oddball problems with it at first but the help files got me up and running with this.

Version: Free Download Manager 1.8 build 307
Pros: At 1.3MB and a price of $0. It is recommended that everyone should download this program. Not only it resume downloads but also accelerate your download speed. In integrates nicely into Internet Explorer, Opera and firefox. I've tried other download managers but none of them did a good job integrating with browers. Very nice interface for organizing downloads also a media player for previewing audio and video files.
