CNET Editors' review
Though it doesn't fully realize its potential, FolderHolder is still plenty useful. Through a small panel that stays on top of your active windows, this utility offers shortcuts to your most frequently used folders and files. This really saves time, but the interface can be clunky. Many would prefer a pop-up menu with shortcuts categorized, and there are no hot-key capabilities. We also found it confusing that a right-click on the Tray icon shuts the program down. However, FolderHolder has a small footprint and it's free. For those looking to minimize clicks, FolderHolder will be a huge step in the right direction.Publisher's Description
From Mark Judge:
FolderHolder is a free, simple, no-nonsense program that keeps shortcuts to all your most frequently used and favorite folders in one tidy window, which minimizes to the system tray. So, no more cluttering up your desktop or endlessly navigating Explorer windows. The program takes seconds to download and install, for a lifetime of use.

"Good idea, limited customizability."
Version: FolderHolder 2.0
Pros
It was the first product I used like this. It was a very good idea and the basic premise, I could see, would be very useful at my IT job.
Cons
Very limited in functionality. You add a folder and that's it. You can't sort them, no special tags to help identify paths easier and not good for big network situations where you have access to a drive but can't see it.
Summary
All-in-All, the idea was good. It even prompted me to make a more comprehensive program with much more versatility and many more options: http://syspad.codeplex.com
It allows the user to add paths from a browse feature or add them manually.
It allows the entries to be given meaningful names, to help locate paths quicker and more efficiently.
It allows them to be sorted; I have a list that is bigger than my screen because of my job, and the ability to sort the most used to the top is very useful.
It also comes with a notepad to record quick notes that save as you type.
All this is accessible from an icon in the Notification Area. -
"Very useful for quick access to folders"
Version: FolderHolder 2.0
Pros
This is a simple program to use. It has a small footprint as far as software applications go. It is very easy to learn how this program works. I find it very useful for many different navigation tasks when I have three or more windows open at the same time.

"Windows can do this already"
Version: FolderHolder 2.0
Summary
Create a folder, put shortcuts to the folders and/or programs you want at hand then either make a shortcut to this folder or, like the people I know like to do, make a new toolbar pointing to the folder full of shortcuts. Just right click on the taskbar and make a new toolbar. Put it on any side of the screen and right click for options. It's running lots of cute things like FolderHolder, all with their own icon in the tray that will make a 2 gig machine slower than a lesser machine.
