This freeware makes it easy to select a new icon for Windows folders, although it doesn't offer a wide array of choices. Folder Iconizer's straightforward interface allows you to easily change the icon display of your folders with its three-step wizard. In the first step, you can drag and drop a folder directly into the program, use the browser to locate a folder, or create a new folder. In the next step, you can choose from one of 30 icons including Games, Utilities, Audio, and other common computer graphics. You can also choose a plain red, blue, or green folder. The third step replaces the standard yellow file folder with the icon of your choice. We appreciate the Recovery buttons that make it easy to restore a folder's original icon, but users should be warned that customized folders don't revert to their original icons when the program is uninstalled. Despite the limited icon options, users of any level can easily customize folders with this simple but effective freeware program.

"works but too annoying to keep"

Cons
it does not save the last folder you looked in for icons, it makes this annoying beep when it changes an icon (no way to stop it), and the straw that broke me is it changes all the hover info to "folder iconizer creation" so now it gets deleted.

This program does what it advertises. It's easy to use and follow. Would be nice to have a greater selection of icons, but the basics are there. The value for the price (free). is great.

Very simple to use. Easy to change your folders to any icon you can get your hands on, simply place your favorite icons in the program's ICON file and they'll be added to the pre-loaded icons that come with the program. I use this program to quickly identify my favorite folders.
