A tool aimed at making a good browser even better, FireTune gets under the hood of the Firefox browser to speed up performance. Computer users who don't mind digging into the program's guts can make these tweaks manually, but this little program instead offers a sleek interface with five different options based on connection speed and computer power, taking care of the changes behind the scenes. For those interested, the help file explains exactly what's getting changed with each option, and the program automatically lets users back up and restore previous settings, just in case something goes wrong.
In our tests, we didn't notice any spectacular performance improvement, but as with any optimization program, results will vary widely depending on the initial state of the computer. For most Firefox users, this program will offer a good way to get more out of an already excellent browser.

"It didn't make any difference for ma."
Pros: I have a 6.0 DSL connection and use "Firefox" as my default browser. I didn't notice ant difference with "firetune" then without it. Maybe it didn't work for me because of my high speed connection, because I'm using "Vista" or both. I would like to chime in and say there is no spyware in this application as another comment claimed. When I had a slower connection it did help.

Pros: Makes fox really faster. Hint: fox 1.5 is faster than version 2.

Pros: Firefox program start and page loading both noticeably improved on fast ADSL connection.
FireTune is incredibly easy to install and set up - "one-click optimising" is just what it says! I like the fact that FireTune only runs on initial optimisation - there is no drain on system resources, and no extra extension - unlike its major rival - to bog Firefox down.
Cons: No drawbacks whatever that I am aware of.
