Rich in Web content, short on cash? This free, open-source FTP application is handy if you're looking for a basic tool to handle FTP transfers and don't want to part with your bucks.
The straightforward program interface offers translations in most of the world's major languages. Caching directories speeds up browsing FTP sites. The only thing we found missing is bookmarks for quickly switching among FTP locations.
The program lets you download or upload multiple files at once from and to several servers. If your bandwidth is somewhat limited, you'll appreciate a feature that lets you automatically adjust transfer speeds based on the time of day or date. FileZilla also lets you browse FTP sites even while you're transferring files. However, you won't find a task scheduler to automate transfers. To transfer sensitive information, the program supports the secure protocol SFTP.
Overall, FileZilla is a good tool that will suffice for managing smaller sites.

Version: FileZilla 2.2.13a
Pros: Due to connecting problems with SmartFTP, I had to find an other FTP program. Because of big size and positive reviews I decided to give FileZilla a try. I downloaded FilaZilla from his website and it installs and uninstalls easy. I never have had a better FTP program than FileZilla, because it has all the functions you need, is fast and works splendid.

Version: FileZilla 2.2.13a
"Program is sluggish, look for better free options"
Pros: Free, easy to use, intuitive
Cons: Sluggish interface (Win2000), look for better free alternatives like Core FTP LE or if you can afford - FTP Voyager (very easy to use) or Cute FTP (has built in html editor and thumbnail viewer).

Version: FileZilla 2.2.13a
Pros: I've tried several other free FTP clients and Filezilla is the first that didn't slow down my system, lock up, or otherwise make my life more difficult. Free FTP clients generally leave much to be desired, and considering this one is free, no complaints here.
Cons: One issue I notice is that when I open this program it doesn't show on my taskbar. I have to Alt+Tab to get to it. If that's the worst I have to deal with, though, no biggie. It's just something that other people may have experienced and the Alt+Tab is a better alternative than opening it a second time (which adds it to the taskbar successfully, but twice!)
