This nifty screensaver sets your desktop ablaze. When you fire up Fantastic Flame Screensaver (no pun intended), each item on your desktop--including open windows on the taskbar--appears to catch on fire, glowing and emitting a smoke effect. The crackling and popping sounds are right on the money. Plenty of backgrounds and flame styles come included, and you can set ablaze any other image you choose. The feature-packed, well-organized Preferences window lets you alter the speed, spire length, and flame intensity, change the wind direction, and choose how quickly the flames fade out on exit. You can launch the screensaver with the system-tray icon or a hot key. Pressing the Enter key captures a picture of your desktop without exiting the screensaver. We think Fantastic Flame Screensaver is a great download for novelty value alone, and though it's a bit pricey at $20, its outstanding features and slick execution make it an attractive buy.Publisher's description
From Laconic Software :Watching fire is both exciting and dangerous. People love it! There is some pre-historic magic in fire. Fantastic Flame Screensaver delivers the excitement of a real-life fire experience direct to your computer desktop. Just leave your mouse for a while, sit back and watch. The desktop dims out and starts to glow ardent orange, creating a glorious effect along with the licking flames. The flames are curling up and dancing on the desktop icons and open windows as if they were wooden logs in the fireplace. It is also possible to bring up some awesome live flaming image onto the display. There are lots of nice samples (Zodiac signs, movie and game posters, Fantasy pictures, etc.) come included. Version: Fantastic Flame Screensaver 6.26
"better than any other fire screensaver out there"
Pros: you can change the sounds of the flame and background music along with fps, using the mouse you can control wind direction and height of flames.
Cons: Free version you only get one color and use the default background which is your wallpaper and it does annoy you with reminders to register.
Summary: I have a generic monitor w/nvidia video card, and Vista Home Basic.it looks really good on my system. I plan on paying in the 20 dollars to get the full version. If you like flames and want something that looks and sounds real try this one out.

Version: Fantastic Flame Screensaver 6.26
"Limiting Registration feature"
Pros: Robust colors, multi-feature control from look, color, background, sound and superior resolution for those of us that use our 42 inch 1080p HDTV as a monitor (funny huh). Great refresh timing.
Cons: Sounds are very annoying. Meant for early teens. I'm very "today" and gamer. Even though its feature rich,it must be registered to use advanced functions. During the screensaver, music pauses, and flashing "Register" message appears. Annoying!
Summary: It would be perfect if not for the constant reminder that it must be registered. This should only be seen during set up, or customization or even 1x when selecting it as your screen-saver. Once it is installed, it's difficult to uninstall. Various f... read more >>
