The face: the portrait of the soul, the autobiography of the person. Well, they're computerizing everything these days. With FaceGen Modeller, even klutzy artists can create a realistic 3D model of a human head in no time. The program gives you tons of parameters to configure, including race, skin, facial areas, and emotions. The results are very convincing. The most amazing feature generates a 3D model based on a photo, and in our tests, the resemblance was uncanny. You can save 3D models to a number of common formats, such as 3DS, LWO/LWS, MA, OBJ/MTL, VRML1, VRML97, or XSI. The interface is straightforward, though somewhat overloaded with tabs. So what's the catch? The $495 price tag. It won't faze professional artists, but it'll put a look of sticker shock on the average user's face.

  "Easy-to-use program for generating lifelike faces"

  Pros: intuitive and easy, I use Fecegen to generate images for psychology experiments, to simulate real face images. It needs a little tweaking to make the faces even more lifelike (mainly on mouth and eye reflections). But a great tool, nevertheless.

  Version: FaceGen Modeller 3.3.1

  "Beauty! Saves me a steep learning curve and time."

  Pros: User Friendly
  Accurate, minimal post-render editing required in most cases.
  Variety of editing features
  Variety of expressions
  Interoperability between major 3D softwares

  Cons: When rendering image, requires you to have no activity on your computer, as it will disrupt calculations.
  
  This is a major problem for people with slower computers, for whom the program can take up to 20 minutes to render the model.

  Summary: This review was based on what the program can do at full functionality. With the evaluation version, you can only export it to an encrypted file format, disabling the ability to import it into other softwares. But still, it's a great program, and I'... read more >>
