CNET Editors' review
Although it could use a line or two of explanation on how to use it, this simple program gives you a pretty slick two-click method to download video files.
Flash Video Downloader installs easily enough, but the discreet icon could go unnoticed on a packed browser toolbar. Look for the icon with an arrow pointing down. The program shows up in your Start menu, but the only option is to uninstall the program. It's a simple process once you understand it, but a readme file would be helpful to let users know how the program works. When you're on a page that has a video file, you just click the Flash Video Downloader icon and a small window opens. The only onscreen instruction advises you to add the .flv extension to the file when you save it. Although the link shows the file name, when you actually download the file, the name always defaults to get_video. You'll need to change the name so you can keep the videos organized once you download them. For those who are new to downloading videos, Flash Video Downloader does just what it says--downloads files. It can't play the .flv files you save.
Despite the lack of user guidance in the beginning, Flash Video Downloader proved to be quite capable of pulling flash videos from the Web with little user-intervention. Recommended for any user who has experience downloading files of any type.

"Adware, DO NOT INSTALL!! Hard to get rid of it."
Version: FVD Suite IE Plugin 1.07
Pros
None at all. Doesn't work, creates ads= adware.
Cons
-Doesn't work.
-Tool bar creates annoying Ad pop-ups.
-Installs on all browsers weather you like it to or not.(I have
IE, Firefox, & Chrome. Installed it for IE and it put it in all 3)
-Tool bar is difficult to uninstall. I removed the extension/plug-in from all my browsers and uninstalled the program, and still there are remnants I can't get rid of. Thinking about going to a previous restore point.Summary
-Don't even think about installing this.
-If you do anyway create a restore point first.
-CNet should remove this from the site. I thought I could trust downloads from here, I guess that's not always the case. -
"Works well, no problems : Ignore the troll reviews"
Version: FVD Suite IE Plugin 1.07
Pros
Easy to use on Chrome. Downloads from a wide variety of sites without any issue. Have been using this for around 4 months without problems and was happy to find a flash downloader for Chrome.
Cons
The popup window when you click to download could give a bit more info. When I first began using I was not sure which option in the popup window to click but have figured it out with trial and error.
Summary
If you use Chrome and need a flash video downloader, it's good.

"It Doesn't Work"
Version: FVD Suite IE Plugin 1.07
Pros
At least I could uninstall it. Some have marked this as Spyware, but I haven't had it flagged as such by SuperAntiSpyware, which would usually pick up anything of that nature.
Cons
Doesn't work, no instructions, has a "toolbar", a button for finding porn, which probably isn't what we want on our browser when we're presenting the Church accounts to the PCC.....
Summary
Don't use.

"Garbage bordering on spyware"
Version: FVD Suite IE Plugin 1.07
Pros
Surprisingly, it actually downloaded a YouTube video (but didn't recognise videos on other webpages I tried). The main pro is that the uninstaller worked for me (though another user's experience differed I see here.
Cons
Tried to hijack my homepage. No documentation. Works differently than the CNet staff review.
Installs a button for finding adult videos, bloody lovely for children installing it and those who don't want porn.
Two settings buttons were installed to my IE8, one of which does nothing. Significant browser real estate is wasted on a required toolbar which can't be moved.
Clicking the working settings button allows hiding the porn button & removing the useless search bar. There are checkboxes for 'Error DNS Lookup', 'Error Pages' and 'Search Queries'. What? If these are ticked (they are by default) and you mistype a web address, a search from the kickback search provider is done. Not sure what else this nasty plugin does. You see why there's no documentation.
Users might come to the conclusion that if this isn't spyware, it's so close that the word 'spyware' might need redefining.
Giving it half a star because zero stars isn't allowed.
May CNet remove it from this site never to return.Summary
DO NOT INSTALL, RUN AWAY!!!

"Doesn't Work, Won't uninstall"
Version: FVD Suite IE Plugin 1.07
Pros
None - fails to meet any requirements of operational software.
Cons
Doesn't work, won't uninstall, appears to be something other than advertised. FVD for Firefox worked flawlessy, but it's a simple add-on for FF, not a "Suite" of crap.
Summary
DO NOT INSTALL, RUN AWAY!!
