Fans of Risk might find something worthwhile in this strategy game, but its primitive graphics and lackluster action leave much to be desired. Empire XP plays a lot like the popular board game Risk. You move armies on a world map and try to dominate the world, while the AI or human opponents try to do the same. Players can sit at the same computer or go against one another online. The sound effects and interface are functional but uninspiring, and the default game board is a distracting fractal landscape; luckily, you can display your desktop, color settings, or a picture of your choice as the backdrop instead. The game comes with 13 maps, including detail maps for China and Great Britain, and you can create more with MS Paint and Notepad. Overall, Empire XP's features and design don't impress, but there's enough here for a casual diversion.

Build an empire in this Risk-like game. Conquer the World, or one of 12 other maps, with up to nine computer opponents, or play against a friend (LAN/Internet and Hotseat). You also can create maps and campaigns of your own and share them with others. The game's options include seven computer personalities to choose from, the ability to chat while playing, submit high scores, strongholds, troop experience, statistics, and the option to play with or without dice. 2D windowed game, x64 version available.

Version 5.3.1 is a bug fixing release.
