For the cost, the features of this download manager are slim. EmFTP Professional is able to download several files simultaneously and with little effort, yet it can't resume interrupted transfers. While the program supports SSL (secure socket layer) and is able to synchronize local and remote folders, it's lacking in other advanced features.

You are not able to browse FTP sites while transferring files, for example. The program interface is fairly clunky, and a free-floating download progress window annoyed us during testing. Overall, there are plenty of freeware options in the market that perform as well as this commercial software.

EmFTP Professional is an easy-to-use, high quality FTP/SFTP client. It features SFTP using SSH, Quick Connect Bar, Filter Feature, FTP Fast Transfer using mulitple threads, permission change, and automatic permission settings. It also features an Explorer-like look and feel, and robust and responsive operation. EmFTP can work well with EmEditor, the text editor for Windows. If EmEditor is installed, you can edit a server-side file as if it were a local file. You easily can import settings from other FTP client software including FFFTP, Internet Explorer, and WS_FTP. The Synchronize Upload feature can copy exactly the same structure of the local folders to the server. Free Academic/Technical licenses are available for students, faculty members, technical writers, and individual freeware/shareware authors.
