So I have cause to change creator/type codes for many files at a time. I didn't need anything as robust as, say, Super Get Info from Bare Bones Software - which is an excellent utility, by the way, but would be overkill for my needs. So I decided to use AppleScript Studio and make a kind of graphical wrapper around SetFile's creator/type code changing feature. Voila! It won't win any design awards (except maybe Ugliest Icon Ever), but it does what it says it does.
Here are some features:
- It's free and it works.
- Once you establish a code/codes you can drop more files and have the same codes used automatically.
- It's small and unobtrusive.
What's new in this version:
- Name change (formerly Drop CreatorType).
- You can now drop files anywhere on the window or on the Finder/Dock icon.
- The window now retains its position on exit.
- Added a "Predefined Codes List" to save frequently used codes.
- You can also drop files onto the "Predefined Codes List" (or the "show/hide codes" button) to batch-add codes to the list.
