Everybody who uses a computer customizes his or her desktop to some degree. With DesktopX you can mold your work space any way you like. Chock-full of themes, icon manipulators, and simple programs, DesktopX gives you an unlimited number of choices to freak out your desktop.
The most unique feature of DesktopX is its ability to create and run simple programs, called objects, on your desktop. The default installation includes a variety of objects, such as a CNN Headline News ticker, an analog clock, and a simple MP3 player. You can easily download more objects. Interesting icon tweaks include expansion to just smaller than giant, as well as a feature that makes icons grow when you mouse over them. We like the themes, which provide a unique collection of objects, background images, and other tweaks that can switch your style in one swoop. All told, DesktopX offers extensive tools for redesigning your desktop.

Version: DesktopX 3.2
"Great for those who like desktop options"
Pros: I'm very much into colour and desktop themes so this was ideal as a program that combines both - even on the trial you've full use of most aspects of the software - enough to provide as many desktop variations as you're likely to want.
Cons: Price would be my only objection given that this is only 1 component of Stardock Central which comprises all the other things on a desktop e..g icons, cursors, etc and in order to get best usage you need to buy ALL of them!! Think they should drop the price down to $5 a go - then I'd buy it!! For now I'll just keep reinstalling the trial!

Version: DesktopX 3.2
Pros: The widgets! The widgets! They offer almost infinite ways to customize your PC. Widgets are little items on desktop that displays information It ranges from useful tools such as RAM/CPU usage to mere visual pleasure, such as swimming fishy.
Cons: Recommended if you have a fast processor (At least a Celeron, P4+ would be better) and quite a bit of RAM (512MB and up).

Version: DesktopX 3.2
Pros: This is another great update. The memory usage is very low and the amount of widgets increases everyday.
There are widgets such as a Gmail checker, weather objects, and many more.
You can even have a butterfly on your desktop.

"A fun and even useful add-on from a world of desktop & browser add-ons."
Pros: The objects made for 'Stardock' for free are usually of high quality and have something for everyones taste. Easy to use.
Cons: The price should be ridiculed. As I said, the objects without which the software would be useless are free to 'Stardock'. There are also many similar programmes available for free. That's why I dumped the software years ago.
Also, When I hear 'no support' it annoys me. Everything has to be instant or have someone hold your hand. Quit being so lazy and figure things out.
