Version: Desktop Weather by The Weather Channel 4.25.1

"A nice piece of software from the authority in Weather."

by CableguyTK on January 24, 2006

    Pros: Its free.

    It has an attractive interface.

It provides some good weather information.

Cons: Kind of annoying at times. The alerts are rather annoying.

Not as attractve as Weather Pulse.

I do recall this having advertisements all over it at one time.

    "The Weather Channel knows weather."

by Mrsone on November 22, 2005

Pros: This is a good program that delivers weather information directly to the desktop. It has good alerts, also. For example, it plays a thunderstorm sound when there is a thunderstorm in the area. That is far better than the ignorable chirp that Weatherbug gives. It displays information that is customized to what you want. For example, it has a customized Pollen count display, Driving Conition display, and even a fitness display. It gives extended forcasts, and it shows a detailed picture of the area that your weather is happening in.

Cons: It does consume a fair amount of memory, so be forwarned. Slow systems may not benefit from it. The installation process is a bit tedious, since you have to opt out of a lot of newsletters before it installs the program. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

    "Bundled with Adware!"

    by heinz_beans on July 11, 2006

    Pros: None! whatsoever

Cons: My Bitdefender firewall and antivirus lit up like a xmas tree when I attempted to download this rubbish. The adware that was trying to connect to my pc was astonishing.

I take it the people that have downloaded it so far must be ignorant or dont have a good firewall or antivirus. This is a complete advertising hog.It loaded half way then I aborted it.I tried to uninstall what was downloaded and it would not uninstall, saying the usual cr*p..."file in use" blah blah blah.I did a reboot and still I had 14 files that would not move from my Programme files.I had to use "Hijack This" to remove files on reboot, and that did the trick. If you have any sense at all LEAVE THIS GARBAGE ALONE!!!!!!!!

It may be free, but its bundled with spyware/adware.

    "Powerful monitoring with advertising"

    by running4jesus on August 24, 2006

Pros: Fast access to weather, trafic, forecasts, travel weather... Also, allows user to see current radar of area. (which is pretty cool!)

Cons: The option to turn off the prog from auto-starting with windows wasn't clearly defined.

    "Froze My Internet Connection!"

by The Download Idiot on August 26, 2006

Pros: The program's concept was very useful...well, for a few days in my case.

Cons: This program kept on freezing my Internet connection! I would chat with my friends on my instant messengers and then, suddenly, my connection goes down. I've pinpointed the cause to this program because none of my other programs disconnect my connection. In this way, this program has a major problem.
