This quirky program lets you apply screen effects to your desktop, but it has functionality issues.

Desktop Fun requires no installation, but you'll need to unzip the executable file to run it. The program's simple interface displays a list of the names of 17 screen effects, from blurring the image to rotating it in varying degrees. From the interface, simply choose any screen effect, see its preview in the adjacent pane, and hit the Start button to apply. It's important to note that you are only allowed to use one screen effect at a time. Additionally, you'll be able to control the interval rate of the desktop effect.

The Wallpaper button is supposed to replace current wallpaper with wallpaper that has desktop effects. In actuality, it captures a screenshot of your desktop with screen effects on it. While Desktop Fun was able to capture a screenshot and replace the current wallpaper with it, we found that only the upper left piece of the new wallpaper had screen effects. Also, the program locked up our machines during some testing, and after we were forced to reboot, we found that our wallpaper had been removed.

Although it's free, there's nothing fun about this executable's uneven performance, even for users just looking to liven up a boring desktop.
