Stardock DeskScapes is a program that allows users of Windows Vista to have animated wallpaper on their desktops. What makes DeskScapes special is that it supports the .DREAM format (first seen with Windows DreamScene) which supports dynamic animated wallpapers that can use virtually no CPU. The free version includes 4 high quality animated wallpapers that are configurable. The enhanced version allows users to add hundreds of freely downloadable animated wallpapers from the net.

Putting the clumsier applications of animated wallpaper to shame, DeskScapes wields Windows Vista's 3D hardware acceleration to result in crisp, buoyant, sometimes photorealistic animated wallpaper in the .Dream format.
Dynamic wallpaper this nice is a visual extravagance, but one with a catch. You're welcome to use the three bundled deskscapes without charge for as long as you'd like. But the swaying grass and rippling water will pull you to the online gallery of publisher- and user-made motifs you can download for free or for a premium. This is where the app gets you--you can install all the deskscapes you'd like, but you won't be able to use them in DeskScapes without upgrading to the premium version. That knowledge alone may frustrate potential buyers interested in seeing a few more demos before they commit. Either way, anyone looking to add some sparkle and personality to their otherwise static Vista desktop will find in this app a handful of high-quality scenes on the house.

Pros: No need to upgrade to ultimate! yeah!
Cons: Nothing it's cool. Go to wincustomize.com for .dream files to go with it. (I do not work for them, I just like this program)

Pros: Images were okay.
Cons: I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking (Voice Program) on my computer and it made my browser incompatible with my voice program. I had to uninstall it to use my computer again. NOT VERY IMPRESSED !!!

"Must be excellent for those that have 8Gb RAM and some 3Ghz Core2duo."
Cons: Waste of CPU and RAM. My Vista crashes now already and I have 3Gb RAM and 2.1 Core2Duo !!!

Cons: You ppl who stuffed up ur computer u should of made a backup first or have recovery discs some companies have backups on the hard drives so if u stuff up ur computer u can restore it to factory settings (i know HP does that)

"Very nice, heaps of great backgrounds to choose from"
Pros: It's very well integrated and also makes it easy to find more great backgrounds. And it's FREE!!
Cons: I could only download I think it was 3 dreams at a time before they would ask for paid membership, although closing the browser and using ccleaner enabled me to keep downloading more
