CNET Editors' review
This easy-to-use desktop clock plays MP3 or WAV alarm files, but it suffers slightly from minor programming bugs.
The program can silently run on your system tray or display a digital readout on your desktop. Desk Clock Pro's design is not its strong suit. Only the background and clock text colors can be changed, and you're stuck with its standard date and time format. You have just two size choices: only the digits, or the numbers above a background image. Background images can be any JPEG, GIF, or BMP file, but will be squeezed to fit the program's unalterable pixel size requirement.
The program offers a "never on top" feature to hide your clock under your app windows, but it defaults to "always on top" if you ever restore the program after placing it on the system tray. You can easily set up to five different alarms, specify a different WAV or MP3 file to be played for each, and add a brief description of the alarm. For your alarm time to be recognized by the program, you must select the time from a drop-down menu rather than manually type it in. Even with a couple of glitches, this flexible freeware is reliable, useful and consumes little system resources.
