This application claims to look up words directly from your desktop, but doesn't deliver on its promises. Definition Finder doesn't offer a dedicated interface for setting user preferences. To search for word meanings, simply press the Alt key and highlight the word. A small gray box will appear beside the highlighted word and is supposed to display the definition. In testing, however, the status bar never got past "Finding" and the program abruptly closed before the definition was displayed. Definition Finder also offers a small text field, located just above your PC clock, used for searching word definitions at refpedia.com. Just input the word and click Find, and the program opens the site and shows definitions from various Internet sources.
