Publisher's Description
From Software Development India:

"Promising but doesn't deliver. No updates forthcoming."
Version: Data Doctor-Audio Splitter 2.0.1.5
Pros
GUI is almost intuitive except for saving and naming your edit. Does not cut the original file so it's always available.
Cons
Timers, edit points are not stable. GUI can literally break into pieces on you monitor without warning, freezing the app. What you hear during preview often different from what you hear in final edited result. Help file almost empty.
Summary
I've been trying every free splitter out there. All have problems. While this app comes highly recommended on many sites, the current build has too many bugs to recommend itself. Not updated since 2008, it apparently was orphaned before a real stable version was produced. This is one app category you may wind up having to pay for to get pro results, Total Recorder Pro has a steep learning curve, but that's what I'm going back to and should have stuck with. In the time I spent evaluating all the "easier to use" free alternatives, I could have conquered it.

"Serious flaws"
Version: Data Doctor-Audio Splitter 2.0.1.5
Pros
Few, never got it to work
Cons
The drag bar you use to select your time range has some major bugs, you can drag it for all your mouse is worth, it will still select it's own random spot along the timeline, therefore, useless.

"simple, freeware product that does what it says."
Version: Data Doctor-Audio Splitter 2.0.1.5
Pros
I used it to take commercials & newsbreaks out of podcasts of radio shows. A little clunky, but it worked fine with no glitches or problems. Quick, good quality. Going to compare it to NCH's Slice and AIVSoft's mp3 splitter to see which is best.
Cons
If anything were to be changed, I guess you could make saving the new portions of the recording with new, individual names a little more automated, but typing in a new name for each section wasn't a problem for me.
Summary
Sorry that I don't have much more to say in this, my first entry on CNET. But I can say that I had no problems, no ads, no viruses, no crashes, etc with this product. And maybe that will help someone else if they're deciding whether to download & try it.

"Good concept, major flaws, needs work"
Version: Data Doctor-Audio Splitter 2.0.1.5
Pros
Simple interface, clear and attractive buttons
Cons
Major item: mp3 files created had size but wouldn't play (0:00 track length)
Lesser item: serious memory hog, screen painting issues (after it had been open a while, some of the buttons started to display in the upper left corner of my screen)Summary
I hoped to use this to split a video narration into smaller chunks, to make it easier to update the video. Hopeless, though, when the files created from the wav source were empty.
