CuteFTP Home returns with an update addressing some concerns from version 7, and leaving others to be picked up in the pricier CuteFTP Pro. One of the most interesting new features is a range of post-transfer actions, from virus checking to shutting down the computer. There's also a new connection wizard, a revamped search function, and a backup feature that allows you to back up your PC to a remote server. The right-click shell integration is a nice touch as well, allowing the user to FTP files from any program or file browser.
CuteFTP Home maintains its limitation as a stripped-down version of CuteFTP Pro. For example, it does not support secure connections through SSH2, OTP (S/Key), or PGP, nor can it perform multipart or concurrent transfers from multiple sites. For those and other features, you'll need to dish out an extra $20. Utilitarian users looking for a light, bare-bones client may prefer a free program such as WS_FTP LE. However, if you want a friendlier file-transfer experience with full Windows XP compliance and drag-and-drop support, CuteFTP Home remains an excellent choice.

Version: Cute FTP Home 8.0.7
"Works but has a small glitch"
Pros: CuteFTP Home does what it is supposed to do - transfer files between your PC and and FTP server. I used it to update my web site. The interface is easy to understand and well organized.
For a FREE FTP client, you cannot really complain. To submit a comprehensive review though, I listed what I did't like about it below.
Cons: When I upload a group of files, a few, usually about 3 from 20 uploaded, will "get stuck". The files appear in the transfer panel, but they never get uploaded. To upload them, you have to select them again and click Upload. This works, but the first try stays 'stuck' in the upload panel and you need to select "Clear All" to remove them.
Also the transfer status messages are NOT displayed anywhere, so you have no idea whether you have successfully connected, currently still connected, etc.

"Never needed anything else, reliable."
Pros: The queuing mechanism needs to be more helpful, after a few years i realised that you had to Right Click and Reset a failed file in the queue to retry it.
All good otherwise!
