CuteFTP Home returns with an update addressing some concerns from version 7, and leaving others to be picked up in the pricier CuteFTP Pro. One of the most interesting new features is a range of post-transfer actions, from virus checking to shutting down the computer. There's also a new connection wizard, a revamped search function, and a backup feature that allows you to back up your PC to a remote server. The right-click shell integration is a nice touch as well, allowing the user to FTP files from any program or file browser.
CuteFTP Home maintains its limitation as a stripped-down version of CuteFTP Pro. For example, it does not support secure connections through SSH2, OTP (S/Key), or PGP, nor can it perform multipart or concurrent transfers from multiple sites. For those and other features, you'll need to dish out an extra $20. Utilitarian users looking for a light, bare-bones client may prefer a free program such as WS_FTP LE. However, if you want a friendlier file-transfer experience with full Windows XP compliance and drag-and-drop support, CuteFTP Home remains an excellent choice.

Version: Cute FTP Home 8.0.3
"Slow, S-l-o-w-e-r, S...l...o...w...e...s...t"
Pros: I've been using 5.0 which will not allow me to connect to my ATT upload, so I use Cute for my GoDaddy account and FileZilla for ATT. 8.0 allows me to use one program for all my servers. It works just like 5.0 as far as how it looks and works.
Cons: HOWEVER, it is unbelievably slow, sometimes locks up, sometimes fails to connect. I can open 5.0 and upload five pages while 8.0 is getting to the opening directory. If I pay for it, will it get faster? So far, I'm better off using the two old programs, since I do most of my uploading with the speedy 5.0.

"It is buggy and it crashes a lot."
Pros: UI is very intuitive and its Site Manager allows you to manage multiple FTP servers.
Cons: Good UI can only bring it that far. Quality is poor. I have to use it everyday for my work, and I get used to multiple crashes a day with 8.0.3.

"Uninstall fails - not worth the hassle with better options available"
Pros: Worked like a normal FTP client.
Cons: Pricey for what you get - better options out there. Went to uninstall and received an error. No assistance from GlobalScape - said it was an error with the installer. I've never had an issue with uninstalling - so I'd recommend you give this one a miss and try SmartFTP or one of the other FTP clients out there.
