Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.
Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.
There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

Version: Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1568
Pros: basically does the job
Cons: there were some files I absolutely had to upload in ascii. I clicked ascii only, and it uploaded in binary anyway. I know binary is the way most ftp clients go, but sometimes a file needs to go up in ascii

Version: Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1568
"This Core FTP Lite is so easy to understand..."
Pros: I was a little skeptical at first. I really didn't think there was much I could be taught when it came to increasing the performance of my computer.
This Core FTP Lite is so easy to understand...and there's no fluff or nonsense.

Version: Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1568
"quick and easy to setup and get started"
Pros: I have used other ftp programs and find this one does what I need and looks like it will be even better as I get to use it more often.
Cons: The tiny symbols will take a few uses to get what they do without having to hover to see what they do.

Version: Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1568
"Does exactly what it should and nothing it shoudln't"
Cons: Must be run as an administrator to work properly, but once that's done, it's great.
-
Version: Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1568
Pros: It does what it says it will do, and it is free (our company is buying the registered version to show support for the developer).
Cons: The online help is mediocre, but the program is simple to use.
