Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.
Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.
There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

"Now, THIS may call itselt an FTP client !"
Pros: Great first impression after startup. A good default window size, the interface was as I expected (2 windows, local, remote), many, many useful options (global or site-wise) to customize your FTP experience. Until now, there is not one feature I miss! It keeps surprising me with nice little features in its features (like the file permission dialog, that sets checkboxes of current permissions and has a number field, to enter permissions directly e.g. 755) etc. etc :)

Cons: Bug in "Sites"-menu (update problem)
Can only connect to one site at a time, as it seems. Is that a kind of limitation of the LE version?

Pros: I'm not used to FTP softwares. Core FTP LE is the first I'm trying. Until now I'm very satisfied with it. It's easy to operate, fast, reliable ..... and free.

Pros: The interface is very clear and to the point. Did not see any conflict while connecting to the different server protocoles. Very good. I like it.
