Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.
Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.
There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

"Works very well, easy to set-up & use"
Pros: We've been using this program for a couple years now with our employees, and never had a hint of trouble. Most employees work from home and this has to be downloaded by them and setup remotely, yet there have never been any issues setting it up or using it for large file transfers on a daily basis. Just great software
Cons: I look forward to them improving the icons, but this is minor and easily over come with little experience with the s/w.

"Opened right away - great new graphics - easy to configure"
Pros: This is a no-hesitation software. The visuals were so clear, the pictures saved the need to read a manual. There was an instant sense that if I started, I'd be successful - and I was.
Cons: I almost abandoned the idea of using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 to use this one. Dreamweaver's customization came through at day's end, but it doesn't change the idea that Core FTP "rocks"!

"Had problems with remote directory listings"
Pros: GUI was easy enough to work with, intuitive. Feature set was good. Program was stable. Installation was smooth.
Cons: In working with some ftp sites, had difficulty getting a remote directory listing when connecting. (other ftp clients worked with no tweaking). Ended up having to move to another client for this reason.
