Core FTP Lite is a top-notch freeware FTP client, with a wide, uncluttered layout to keep things organized. Easy to use and lacking only the most advanced of features, like multisite connections, Core FTP is a must-have.
Major functions such as Site Manager for maintaining connection information, Quick Reconnect, and mode switching are given big buttons on the toolbar. When you're connected to a site, though, the file-management pane also replicates buttons for most of these functions so you don't have to mouse very far to use the tool you need. The client supports all essential FTP functions, including multiple transfers, secure protocols, configurable ASCII uploading for specified file types, browser integration, and more.
There are few downsides to using this app. There's no scheduler. Some users have noted past stability issues, both in general and when conducting large transfers, but it seems that many older bugs have been worked out. We noticed no problems during our tests and strongly recommend Core FTP Lite.

Version: Core FTP LE 1.3c build 1437
Pros: Definite improvement over in-browser ftp connections. Uploading was a very simple matter of drag-n-drop without flipping windows. While some may see it as a bad feature, I like the plain design. I don't need extra bells and whistles, just a way to get megabytes uploaded. The program seems to work very quickly and requires almost zero babysitting. For being a free version, it appears to be well equipped - without the ads that make you question a program's integrity.
Cons: I haven't seen any major points against, just a few things not perfect to taste - very minor though.

Version: Core FTP LE 1.3c build 1437
Pros: It remembers your server information so that you don't have to type it in all the time. Remembers where it stiped the transaction.
Cons: when transaction stops, doesn't automatically start

Version: Core FTP LE 1.3c build 1437
Pros: The only thing I use this program for is to upload the files for my personal web site. I guess like everybody else I was looking for a quality, easy to learn and use FTP solution and Core has created one!
Cons: Being totally unknowledgable about FTP, a short tutorial would be helpful.

Version: Core FTP LE 1.3c build 1437
Pros: I put an FTP server on my home computer so I could transfer large files and difficult files like .exe , things email doesn't like to deliver. Myself and several friends are using Core FTP (Free version) and its working beautifully. I had to talk one through it on the phone, not much grief there, first time he ever saw an FTP client. Largest transfer so far is 289Mb; not bad...try to email something like that! In case you're interested I'm using the free: Quick 'n Easy FTP Server for server software. Search for it on Cnet, that's where I found it.
