Version: Cool Timer 3.3
Pros: It does all its supposed to do: count down. Its small and easily installed. You can choose to support the programmer by adding a toolbar, but you arent forced to which is good!
Cons: The colorscheme is absolutely awful! Screaming pink/purple, what was the author thinking??? Luckily you can change this, so it isnt really a bad thing :-)

Version: Cool Timer 3.3
"Wonderful for full-screen countdown"
Pros: From hours of searching, and experimenting with other countdown software, Cool Timer is the edition which best meets our needs.
We have a television program which we record using two 13-minute segments each. We used to assign one of us to watch their own clock and hold up numbers for each minute, but that really wasted manpower and only gave the program host a vague idea of how close he was. Since we had three cameras, with the guest and host facing each other, it also involved another one of us on the camera to signal to the host or guest with our hands what time they had left before the break. That was quite risky, and it required some editing after the program if they were off.
Cool Timer solved that problem. Now, we have a laptop and a clone monitor, which both the host and any guests can view. It doesn't involve another person for the countdown at all anymore, and I can concentrate on the video camera rather than the clock!
Cool timer stands out from similar programs because of one particular feature: The enlarged numbers, which don't require ANY squinting.
Version 3.3 of Cool Timer has also eliminated a bug which I'll mention in the "cons" section.
Cons: Keep in mind that this "con" feature has been resolved by version 3.3. The count down used to be influenced by my laptop's background applications or amount of RAM. To solve this, I needed to go to task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del -> Task Manager), find the cool timer application, and assign it high priority (Task Manager-> Processes -> Right-click -> Set Priority -> Realtime). Now, with version 3.3 that is NO LONGER REQUIRED! WOO HOO!
I can only think of one other recommendation to avoid a workaround, and that is relating to the size. I like having the large view of the buttons, and in order to make it as large as possible, I set the screen resolution to 800x600. It would be convenient to have a large-as-possible view which adapts to any screen resolution. However, the work around of setting the screen resolution to 800x600 is no problem for us, and even if that fix wasn't added, Cool Timer would still be #1 on the list by a long shot.

Version: Cool Timer 3.3
"Best timer I've found without having to go out and buy a cooking timer."
Pros: This is the easiest timer that I have ever found and used. Very simple to set the time. I love the way that you can set the timer for either once or repeat. The alarm is customizable with either the installed sound files or you can use your own .mp3, .wav or .mid files. It allows you to set the colours of your choice, whether you want to keep it on top of other applications or minimize it to the bottom of the screen or to the system tray, and can adjust the size of the timer. It can be used for either a countdown timer or as an alarm clock. I love the idea of being able to program preset times. This makes repeat times easier to load.
Cons: Only negative thing I can think of, and it really isn't a biggie, is the colours. Although you can change the colour scheme, the choices are very limited.
