If you're looking for a free yet capable FTP program, check out this offering from CoffeeCup. We liked the program's intuitive interface, although you will be forced to endure several advertising banners. It wasn't immediately clear how to connect to the FTP server, but after a brief trip to the help files, we had success in mere seconds. In our tests, the program did its job just fine, though we did notice a few quirks. For example, the program does not ask whether or not you want to overwrite files and simply does so automatically. In terms of features, CoffeeCup Free FTP supports secure SSH transfers but won't let you schedule downloads. However, we were glad to note that transferring files didn't affect our PC's performance. Although the program doesn't have some advanced features that seasoned users will desire, most folks won't go wrong with this free FTP utility.Publisher's description

Version: CoffeeCup Free FTP 3
Pros: Actually works. Better than other free FTP programs from DOwnload.com. Easy to use interface. Required knowledge to use the program: 4.5/10.
Cons: Advertisement at the bottom of the program.SubmitFire button to link to 3000 search engines (doesn't work). Navigation is sometimes confusing. Other that that, this program is great!

"Works well enough, no evidence of spyware"
Pros: For a free utility, it works well and is easy to understand. Not too many features, but plenty fast and stable. No evidence of adware of trojans found (at least not in version 3.0.0.10).
Cons: Can only perform one set of transfers at a time (cannot queue up multiple uploads with multiple sites like Smart FTP). After logging into a site, if you wait for about a minute without doing anything within the target site, it will log off, which is really annoying. It also will not remember your most recent directory between sessions, so every time you launch you will have to navigate to the directory you will be sending from every time. It has the same ad in the bottom (not contantly downloading new banner ads that would congest the flow of data) and a pop-up after it closes (disappers after about 20 seconds or so, so both of these are easy to ignore). I saw the warnings about the spyware and trojans, but have performed multiple scans and found no evidence of that either in the product of on my system after the install. Still, perform your own scans on anything you donwload and install just to be sure. All in all, these drawbacks are reasonable for a free app, and i prefer it mainly becuase it is holding four site logins and it's a pain to dig up the credentials to move to a better app.

Version: CoffeeCup Free FTP 3
Pros: It is very easy to use if you know a bit about FTP, very quick connection and uploads. I use it for my website almost every day, and it works over a network connection too, so I can upload files from a different computer. It is definately worth it if you want to get a nice, free FTP program.
Cons: It has an ad at the bottom of the window, tries to sell me a product too.

"Good for web ste maintenance"
Pros: Good for web sites. Built-in HTML editor allows you to edit files in-place on the server. Change UNIX file permissions directly on the server
Cons: Quite slow
