From Infinity-to-the-Power-of-Infinity:
Select a background for your custom icon (eg. a folder icon) and select a symbol to combine it with (eg. your favorite application) and get a nice custom icon within seconds. For people who used Folder Icon Maker for Mac OS Classic, this application will fill the void, since it creates Mac OS X compatible icons. Additional features expand the area where CCI can be used.
What's new in this version: The quality issue appearing on small scaling levels in the Finder has been resolved. Two new languages have been added (Japanese and French). The application now supports four languages in total.

I have tried contacting the developer several times without success. Apparently his email is not working.

I really take my hat off to the developer. I've been struggling to create decent looking Icons for over a year, but nothing I've seen comes close to the look and ease of use. Transparent backgrounds, simple resizing, no mucking about with .ics files. A true blessing and all for $10.00. Kiss, kiss -- I love you.
For those buying, I suggest you use the Kagi link to pay for it. You get the registration code (which removes "demo" from your icons) much faster... I used Pay Pal and am still waiting. -

To best illistrate my last comment about there being no change in perspective when an icon appears open, I've created an animated gif...
In this form the top icon was created by Can Combine Icons, the bottom was by IconCompo (you can tell due to the fact that Can Combine uses the word demo, and Icon Combo uses a dashed line on the bottom of the icons when in demo mode).
The top one looks terrible...

I was giving this a try in comparison to IconCompo... While for a couple minutes I thought this one was best, I quicly realized one flaw that is really annoying, making it impossible for me to choose this over IconCompo...
While this program does allow the icon to be attached to the folder (like ALL the default folder icons are in Mac OS X, check the applications icon or the icons for any folders in your home folder), when using the option for having an open folder icon, THE PERSPECTIVE DOES NOT CHANGE! It looks terribly ugly to see the folder open up while an icon that is supposed to be attached to the folder seemingly becomes unattached and hovering at an angle over the folder...
While I'm not that happy with IconCompo's price, the outcome of Can Combine Icon makes it a non-option... -

CCI has everything I was looking for: it's simple to use, extremely powerful once you play around with its more advanced options, and I can crank out custom icons in seconds.
Easily worth the $10 registration fee. -

comment now, I mean there's no update or anything, but I just have to add my .02 to say how much I love this app. I had tried all the available apps to create folder icons and I have to say that this is the most logical, easiest to use and cheapest one available. It functions in an intuitive manner, with lots of options, and produces high quality icons. It really is one of the nicest single purpose graphics apps I own!
