BrowserTexting lets you sync your Android phone with your browser, so you can send and receive SMS messages from the comfort of your computer. It's perfect for when you're at work, or at home, or when you just don't feel like tapping away at your Android device's touch screen.
The beauty of BrowserTexting is its simplicity. Once you download and install the app on your Android phone, you pretty much never have to fiddle with it again. Just use your computer browser to navigate to browsertexting.com, where you'll get a unique QR code. Then, scan the QR code with your phone, and everything should sync up automatically. Your browser window will immediately pull up your phone's contact list, and you can start sending and receiving texts right away. Your browser should be synced with your phone every time you fire it up.
To start, you can send up to 50 texts from your browser and send group texts to up to five recipients. There's no limit on incoming messages. Meanwhile, Premium accounts start at $9.99 per year and give you unlimited browser texting and unlimited group message recipients. You can try out a Premium account free for 30 days.
One thing worth noting about BrowserTexting is the slight delay when sending texts from your browser. Since outgoing messages are first routed to BrowserTexting's servers before being dispatched, it can take a few extra seconds before they pop up on the recipient's phone. In most cases, this shouldn't be a problem, but it's worth knowing, in case you're ever dealing with an urgent matter.
BrowserTexting is available for free download now in the Android Market, and is compatible with all the major browsers. Unfortunately, the service isn't available to iPhone users since Apple does not allow third-party applications to access the SMS send and receive functionality of its phones.
