CNET Editors' review
More charming and profound than a digital readout, Book Of Time offers a novel twist on the traditional timepiece screensaver. A leather-bound book floats above your blurred-out desktop and opens to pages yellow with age. Each page displays an analog clock showing the current time. The pages turn endlessly, and with each flip the clock hands advance. A well-chosen set of options allows you to change the sound volume, the graphics quality, the interval between turned pages, and how dark the desktop appears. Choose high-quality graphics if your system can handle it. At that setting, the animation is lovely, looking something like a scene from the classic adventure game Myst. At lower quality, the diagonal page edges suffer from severe jaggies and appear to flow like water. People squeamish about their mortality may find this screensaver slightly disturbing, but those who appreciate a good memento mori will find Book Of Time a useful way to watch their remaining seconds on Earth pass by.Publisher's Description
From Kryptile ScreenSavers:
This screensaver is a philosophic approach to the process of time. On one page it shows the past, and on the next the future comes. Where is the present, then? Maybe somewhere in between. Do you want to look through the book till the end? This screensaver makes it possible to behold the enigma of how time is turning on a shabby old book's pages.
