This free P2P application lets you find and download files using a unique system. On the left side of the three-pane interface, you choose from a long list of Web pages that contain files you can download. Different sites offer different types of files, and the subject matter is usually apparent by the name. When you opt to download a file, a smaller file appears on your desktop, which you then open in BitComet. After a bit of a wait, the application aggregates users that have your requested file and starts a swarm download that gradually grows in sources and speed. We like the enormous variety of files available for download, but aside from paging through categories, there are not many ways to search for specific files. Still, the addition of a preview function helps. The BitComet client offers chat capabilities, stats trackers, and the ability to bookmark your favorite sites. Overall, we think BitComet and the BitTorrent system are a great alternative to most file-sharing apps, and the fact that this download is free sure doesn't hurt.Publisher's description

Version: BitComet 0.86
"Not as good as it used to be."
Pros: It is simple to use, similar to IE7 program. It is quite fast.
Cons: It has become bloated with later versions, and I often get script errors. I can eliminate that problem, but it shouldn't exist at all. The windows tend to overlap one another, a bit confusing until I rearrange them. I recomment uTorrent 1.6.1, as the best of the bunch. Not a memory hog.

Version: BitComet 0.86
Pros: It was used be the best torrent.
Cons: The program is getting worst with each update. After each update it runs slower and the bugs increase. I guess, the time is to try a different torrent program.

Version: BitComet 0.86
"Banned From Trackers and DHT Explotation Leads to a Degraded Program!"
Cons: BitCommit is a very controversial Torrent Downloader. What began as a stroke of genus led to its own distruction. BitCommit took advantage of Super-Seeding: a function which forces super upload rates to "balance" the share rating. *for most its a pain.
"In early 2007, John Hoffman, the creator of super-seeding and author of the BitTornado client, harshly criticized BitComet for using abusive tactics to "game" and "cheat" super-seeding at the expense of other peers: "Since BitComet has proven itself to be a harmful codebase, and since they have forced me to take steps Id rather not have, I will also be banning connections from that client to my own client and tracker codebases."
Additionally,
"During version 0.60, BitComet received bad publicity because its implementation of the DHT feature, which was new at the time, could be exploited to not respect the private flag of a tracker. This allowed users to avoid download and upload ratio restrictions, which are common on private trackers. Many private trackers responded to this by banning BitComet version 0.60.[3] BitComet developer RnySmile reverted the client back to version 0.59 in response to the banishment."
Since, it's only gotten worse and littered with adware for more funding.

Version: BitComet 0.86
Pros: This BT downloader is a good program. It can also download HTTP downloads. I didn't try UTorrent yet so I cannot conclude the quality of this program. But I still recommend this freeware highly.
