This free P2P application lets you find and download files using a unique system. On the left side of the three-pane interface, you choose from a long list of Web pages that contain files you can download. Different sites offer different types of files, and the subject matter is usually apparent by the name. When you opt to download a file, a smaller file appears on your desktop, which you then open in BitComet.
After a bit of a wait, the application aggregates users that have your requested file and starts a swarm download that gradually grows in sources and speed. We like the enormous variety of files available for download, but aside from paging through categories, there are not many ways to search for specific files. Still, the addition of a preview function helps. The BitComet client offers chat capabilities, stats trackers, and the ability to bookmark your favorite sites.
Overall, we think BitComet and the BitTorrent system are a great alternative to most file-sharing apps, and the fact that this download is free sure doesn't hurt.
Publisher's description
From BitComet :BitComet is a powerful, clean, fast, and easy-to-use BitTorrent client. It is P2P file-sharing freeware and one of the most popular P2P protocols designed for high-speed distribution. BitComet supports simultaneous downloads, DHT networks (trackerless), a download queue, selected downloads in the Torrent package, fast-resume, chatting, disk caching, speed limits, auto port mapping, proxies, and IP filtering. Version 0.68 fixed some small crash bugs.

"Absolute trash that has no place in BT communities"
Pros: NAT traversal(though you can't beat actually opening ports for incoming connections)
Cons: Fixed! jk. They say that every release. While the stats reporting issue is history, many more to go. The BT protocol is get if you give, which means sometimes the seed may also require you to pass a piece to another peer and report back. Bitcomet does this whether you have or not, pretty much infecting the swarm with false information, It will often disconnect from clients then reconnect to unfairly gain speed as new connections are temporarily preferred for sending data to. It ignores the private flag for DHT as well as that reenabling itself after tracker is unavailable for more than a few minutes. This is dangerous for the communities of private trackers, as well as to you. Private torrents are embedded with your personal passkey and DHT allows hash sharing and even the total transfer of a torrent file, including your passkey! Yes, if this happens, some leecher can essentially download as You and ruin YOUR ratio. So many argue chances are small of this, but is any chance worth using a client like this when there are so many out there? Thought not. PS-Nothing you upload therough DHT counts on your stats. Bitcomet at least fixed that. I see in 0.68 no evidence of further steps in the right direction so 1 star.

Version: BitComet 0.68
Pros: I will admit, I started the whole Torrent thing with BitComent, and I loved it. The ease of use is what BitComet is known for.
Cons: Many trackers block BitComet. For power users, BitComet is not something you want. I would suggest uTorrent (google it) as it is much smaller, takes up less memory, and allows much more control over the network.
