From Type XI:

This is an AppleScript application that will move your Entourage events and tasks to iCal. It will preserve your Entourage categories (it'll use the first category if the item has multiple).

Because iCal can be a bit slow, it will put all items older than Jan 1, 2002 into their own category for easy archiving.
