Editors' reviewBeFaster Lite claims to optimize your online connection, but we were unable to substantiate its claims during testing. BeFaster Lite's gray interface is rather drab-looking, but it supports several connection types, such as LAN, T1, DSL/broadband, DirectPC, or dial-up modem. Additionally, BeFaster Lite claims to improve online gaming, TTL, and TCP connections, and pinging tools are available for modem users, which are handy if your connection drops or your modem has a tendency to go into sleep or idle mode. To speed up your connection, simply select your type of connection, click the Optimize Settings button, and the utility will prompt you to reboot your PC for the settings to take effect. This Lite version requires less disk space than the regular version, and it doesn't require the installation of the BeFaster Toolbar. Despite all this program's promises, however, we didn't notice any significant improvement in our connection from our tests. Though BeFaster Lite seems functional, we can't say yea or nay on this 15-day trial program's ability to carry out its main purpose.
