Part soap opera, part space blaster, Battlezone has little to do with its original arcade namesake. The game delivers an impressive 3D world that requires as much strategic thinking as it does sharp shooting. An outstanding interactive tutorial helps spell out the broad bank of game controls. The mission-based levels found in the demo offer an entertaining mix of defensive planning and celestial carnage. But, considering the time required to master the tutorials, most capable gamers will manage to blast through the demo all too quickly. Still, considering the game's modest system requirements, Battlezone is a great 3D distraction for anyone running an older machine.

The campaigns are good, but no other game in the world compares to BZ when it comes to grabbing a cold beer and sitting down for a head on strat match with your buddy. still, 4 years after it came out, it is the best game i've ever played! -- worst part is the lack of support and recognition it's gotten.
