Duplicate images can take up a lot of space on your hard drive, but identifying and deleting them can be a major hassle. Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder promises to make this process easier, and it does, to some extent. Depending on the number of duplicates you have, this may or may not be the program for you.
The program's interface is attractive and intuitive. Users simply select the folders they want to scan for duplicates and then click the Start Search button. Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder scanned our hard drive quickly and then displayed the results as a list of file names, with duplicates listed side by side. A preview pane let us visually compare each set of images, and a similarity rating let us know exactly how similar the program found the images to be. This part of the program worked great; it was fast, and the results were thorough and accurate. The problem came when it was time to start deleting images. There's no way to delete them in batches, and if you're working with a large number of duplicates, it can get quite tedious to delete them one at a time. That said, those who don't mind deleting each duplicate individually will find little to complain about with Awesome Duplicate Photo Finder; the program works great otherwise. We also liked the fact that it supports JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP images. A Help file would have been nice, but it's not really necessary; anyone with basic computer literacy will be able to figure it out without problems.

"The best I found so far"

Pros
- Pretty fast at its job
- Finds resized images of an image
- Gives a preview of images under consideration with file size so that you know what image is it and what you are deleting
- Gives a percentage of similarity, which may not be much use but still good to have it than nothing.
- You don't HAVE to delete the duplicates, you can move them to another folder.
- Its free.Cons

Let me be honest, I don't give anything more than 4 stars unless its just superb. This program IS superb but lost a half star to its cons. Before using this program, I tried Picasa's experimental feature and VisiPics which is recommended all over the internet but found out this program and dupueguruPE. VisiPics is very slow and I had difficulty with comparing the results. dupeguruPE gave me very few results. VisiPics gave me a few more than dupeguruPE and this one gave me maximum results. The results are NOT crap and they were indeed duplicates or resized files (I had tons of them which I had completely forgotten).
Other reviewer have expressed dissatisfaction or more shortcomings but I STRONGLY recommend you to give it a try. If it doesn't fit your bill, you haven't wasted too much of time and processor cycles. -

Doesn't use too much Computer Power, can slow you down if you have thousands of pictures. Small, Effective, Basic Single Task Program.

I wonder if someone is having a joke. This software is USELESS because it matches pictures that are only marginally similar. To be any good at all, the user should be able to set a percentage similarity that will create a match. I don't know if this is someone's first attempt at writing software, all I can tell you is it's CRAP.

Summary
I downloaded about 11 of the most popular duplicate finder software to see which one could not only find duplicates but to see which one could actually detect the same photos that are similar but with different (sizes, colors and effects). This Duplicate detector software is very impressive because it could actually show you a percentage of how close the photos are comparing to one another; from 100% down to 1% similarity. I had 22 original photos in one folder and its copy with different (sizes, colors and effects) on the other folder. Out of 22 photos it managed to find 10, which is impressive because other duplicate finder softwares failed miserably. The software named "Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder" did better than this one because it found 16/22.
This Duplicate Photo Finder is very good because it found all the duplicates but for my similar photo test it only found 10/22.

Fast, easy to use, convenient and 100% free.
Cons
Sometimes it freezes to the point where I actually have to "end task" the program by hiting ctrl + alt + delete. If I don't, it doesn't let me do anything else. Maybe this is why this software is free.
Summary
After comparing this software with other Duplicate image finders on download.cnet.com, I am 100% sure this is the second best Duplicate image finder software I found. Why pay for a Duplicate image finders software when you could get this software for free?
I have tested this software with seven different other Duplicate image finder softwares and this one is one of the best. I'm surprised this software is not on the top of the list! This product is free and it works better than some "Duplicate image Finder" softwars that you have to Purchase. -
"Slow, with Incorrect or mostly useless results"

- can sort results by field values.

- slow: over 2.5 hours to churn through 3000 photos on average spec'd machine
- many useless search results - provides a percentage similarity, but in very many cases these were as low as 30%. I only want 100% match (i.e. exact duplicates), but I concede some users may have a need for lower match thresholds.
- many (20 - 30%) INCORRECT search results: "duplicates" identified the same file (yes, and in the same folder) for source and target files!!! Implies coding logic error - which makes me not trust any of the results. Imagine deleting that entry - you'd lose your original!!Summary
Sluggish for large sets - but most of all , I can't trust the logic behind the code since it returned many "false positives" - same file in same folder listed twice, but identified as a duplicate of itself. Deleted the app as I can't trust the integrity of the results. 1 1/2 stars as it may help some people with limited functional duplicate checks.

It missed MANY photos, and constantly confused multiple files with others. There is no way to adjust the discernment, and deleting files it finds is painfully and slowly repetitive.
Summary
I sell stock photography on istock.com, and thought I'd give this product a try. I tried it twice and was sorry I wasted the time.

Cons
my computer (Vista) would not let e delete some found duplicate while in program. Deleting required individual permission outside the program.
