Auralux is a strategy game for both iPhone and iPod. With beautiful graphics and a soothing ambient soundtrack, warfare has never been so relaxing.
Auralux is one of those games that's hard to explain but relatively easy to figure out once you start playing it. The object of the game is to defend your sun from attackers and take over enemy suns by overwhelming them with "units" produced by your sun. You direct the flow of units by selecting them and then touching the desired destination, and they float gently across the screen to where you want them. Part of what's so fun and frustrating about Auralux is that it moves slowly; your units drift leisurely to their destination, and they may or may not get there in time to defeat your attackers. That's where the strategy comes in, though; you have to constantly anticipate enemy moves and plan ahead for them. The game starts with a tutorial that explains the basics, and we got the hang of it in no time. We were impressed with the high-quality graphics as well as the numerous levels and challenges that the game presents. While we often find that the music that accompanies games becomes annoying after a while, that's not the case with Auralux; the soundtrack is relaxing and the sound effects are well integrated, making the audio an enjoyable -- though optional -- part of the game. We ended up playing Auralux for far longer than we intended, which is the highest praise we can offer any game. Anyone who enjoys a good strategy game will likely find Auralux quite compelling.
Auralux installs and uninstalls without issues.
Auralux is an abstract, essentialized, and simplified real-time strategy game.
You command only one type of unit and have only one type of order to give those units. You and your opponents start the game with precisely equal resources. Quick reflexes will get you nowhere. The only path to victory is through clever strategy.
Auralux features a slow, floating feel and vibrant minimalistic graphics. The entire game pulses to the rhythm of ambient music, and the player's actions evoke sounds that smoothly coalesce into melody.
This game is designed to provide a relaxing, cerebral experience. Every choice matters, and only the best strategies will succeed.
