Though not quite as robust, this productivity suite makes a decent alternative to the ubiquitous Microsoft office. Most average users won't have a problem operating both TextMaker and PlanMaker, which look very similar to Word and Excel respectively. Both of these utilities have all the features you might expect, though it may take a bit of patience to get used to the different arrangement of them. Also, when we tried to launch DataMaker and Basic Script from the toolbar in the word-processing program, we got error messages, which is a bit discomforting. And if you're looking for an office suite with a built in e-mail client or PowerPoint functionality, you won't find it here. Still, if you seek a cheaper alternative to Microsoft Office and only work with Excel and Word, there's no reason not to give Ashampoo Office 2005 a chance.

  "I'm baffled by these great reviews."

  Pros: Maybe it's just me or maybe it's because I can't stand dealing with this company at all! But I'm just not impressed enough to consider a purchase. Might be good for Vista laptops that don't score well but not for a Vista 5.3 desktop.

  Cons: My MS Office has way more features & it's every bit as fast loading as this program.

  Summary: I hate dealing with Ashampoo & I hate their spam emails that I get on a regular basis that I haven't been able to unsubscribe from. The only reason I tolerate it is because I love their Photo Commander 7. As far as I'm concerned, everything else... read more >>

  "I Have no Problems with Ashampoo Software...."

  Pros: Today Ashampoo 0ffice 2008 (licensed from SoftMaker.de) is Fast & clean to load
  & has freat compAtibility with MS Office 2003_Word; etc ; at about 1/10 the Hard Disk Size occupied..

  Cons: A little bit of a diligent learning curve presents itself to familiarize oneself with their
  online purchase_registration web presence.

  Summary: Free Trial versions of Almost All Ashampoo Software Products is available.

  Pros: Low Cost. Saves Microsoft Office 2003 Files And Opens Microsoft Office And Has Dictonairy.

  "Great Product especially now with "Presentation" incl"

  Pros: Been using this software since 2005. found it to be a very stable and reliable workhorse. Also have Ms Office on another computer, but then comparing the two the standout difference is that Ms Office is ten times the size and price.

  Cons: After long deliberation could really only come up with the suggestion that
  overall appearance could be " dressed up a little "
