Quickly access folders, programs, or Web sites through shortcuts with this useful application, but it may prove too complex for novices. The concise AppPlus interface smartly displays most needed options. AppPlus creates a floating menu bar and system-tray icon for easy access to programs, folders, and URLs. Adding menu-bar items is simple. You can go to the properties window and create a shortcut for a file or a folder, Web address, and e-mail address with complete attributes such as icon, captions, and tool tips. The easier method is to drop the shortcut or folder on the menu bar. The program also manages hot keys for quick item access. The program includes a lock feature that lets you set a password to protect AppPlus settings. Novice users will prefer the simplicity of Windows toolbar, but intermediate to power users will find this application performs like a toolbar on steroids.

AppPlus is a menu bar that docks to your desktop or floats and can automatically hide itself, if desired. You can create up to 20 graphic-based buttons that launch programs, Web sites, e-mail addresses, or load a folder's content in an AppPlus menu. A tray-based icon gives you access to instant activation of your screensaver and Windows shutdown commands, as well as plenty of other available options. Use the crisp sound effects provided, or your own WAV files. You can also choose the font used for shortcuts and have AppPlus start when Windows boots up. Version 2.8 includes hotkeys for each shortcut and the ability to set a custom icon for each shortcut. You can also view extensions in the AppPlus Menu System. Version 2.71 reduces the set-up size and fixes an incompatability with NT 4.0.
