CNET Editors' review
Although it's not as effective as similar applications, this timer will sound every 60 minutes to remind you to take a break. Anti-Strain Alarm Clock runs in a small window that displays the total amount of time you've spent on your computer. (Beware: The tiny clock image within the window is only a design and doesn't display the actual time.) Your display is limited to two options: translucent and opaque. Included prevention tips to help avoid eyestrain and injuries are basic, and the instructions given for laptop and children's usage are less than compelling.
After the preset 60 minutes, Anti-Strain Alarm Clock's window will blink continuously and remind you to relax. After 10 minutes of relaxing, it will then remind you to return to your work. Unfortunately, you cannot change the preset time parameters for working and relaxing, nor can you minimize the main window--it always stays on top of other programs. Also, the program doesn't allow users to add notes or play an alarm sound, features typically found in similar applications. Although it's free, users looking for a comprehensive program may find Anti-Strain Alarm Clock lacking.
