Simple and reliable, this free desktop alarm is one of the better ones we've seen. Users of all levels will appreciate the useful features that it brings to the table.
Alarm 3.5.5 offers a basic, digital-style display. The program comes with a large selection of themes that really only change the color-scheme. Drop-down menus let you quickly set the hour and minutes for the alarm, but the minutes can only be set in 15-minute increments. If you don't feel like going through the trouble of manually setting the alarm, the Quick Alarm feature lets you set it using preset time increments. Once you set the alarm, the current time is replaced by the alarm time. The default alarm sound is rather harsh, but we were able to quickly and easily add our own MP3 files to replace the sound. If you are a fan of the snooze button, the program lets you adjust the snooze time, as well as the number of allowed hits. We especially liked that you can set multiple timers at once, which appear as a new window on your desktop.
The program doesn't offer any real help, but we doubt you'll need it thanks to its intuitive interface. If you're looking for a straightforward alarm clock with useful functions, Alarm 3.5.5 is the one for you.

"Best I've used"

Pros
I've tried to use a number of the most popular alarms and this one is by far the most reliable. The prevention of automatic shutdown, the ease of the interface, and the benefits of the randomized playlist so I don't have to get up to the same song every morning make this my favorite.
Cons
Could be prettier, but who cares?

Pros
Small footprint, customizable appearances - sizes, colors, fonts, position on desktop, etc. - and easy-to-use timer. Adware-free installation.

None whatsoever.
Summary
Outlook is great for task reminders and calendar events/scheduling, but I wanted a simple timer application with a beep-beep-beep that could run in the background with little impact on system resources. This program accomplishes that perfectly - and the fact that it can play MP3 files, run multiple recurring alarms, and be customized to just about any size/font/color combo (including transparency and fixed desktop placement) is just icing on the cake.

Clean Install. Excellent program. May run in system tray. Lots of options!

None so far but will need to test some options like, disable windows update restart, start up with windows and Restore last alarm time.

So many options. Hide in system tray. Change Opacity. Display all possible minutes (when setting alarm -contrary to other descriptions/reviews) , Enable Morning Reminder, Use 24 hour clock, Use Beep as Alarm, Change Beep Frequency (Beeps per minute) ... Snooze Time Options. Even the option to Launch any external application when your alarm goes off. So that you wake up to your favorite music and your email client is email client is waiting for you !! Now , that is pretty sweet for a simple small, clean lil piece of freeware.

"More like a clock radio than described."

Alarm works and stays on until you turn it off. Music sounds great.
Cons
You have to reset it every time you re-boot. Seems to start at the same place on your playlist regardless of setting. No help and not altogether intuitive. If you turn your PC off at night, it will do nothing for you in the morning.
Summary
Useful if you think of it as a clock radio. Remember to set it completely before you need it. Leave your PC on. And don't expect to control the music the way you want to.
