CNET Editors' review
It's fairly simple to create your own desktop clock with this utility, although its alarm functions leave a little to be desired.
Alarm Clock Maker displays a tabbed, novice-friendly interface marred by spelling errors. Your finished clock will sport a bitmap image, and the time will show beneath it. You can choose from one of more than 20 packaged bitmap images or select your own. Your time display choices are limited to size, thickness, and color; we couldn't find a way to change the unattractive font. We did like the clock's transparency feature.
Regarding the alarm functionality, you have options galore on style and positioning of alert messages and alarm sounds. However, we were baffled as to how to actually create a customized message. You have your choice of 10 built-in sounds or your own WAV, MP3, or MIDI file, but we couldn't figure out how to set a time for the alert. The help file was of little assistance with either issue.
The Create Installer option allows you to quickly build an installer for your new alarm clock for sharing with others. The clock itself worked well and added flair to our screen, but anyone needing reliable alarm functionality should pass on this 15-day trial application.
